FAQ

Hypnosis is nothing more than a way to communicate with the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is ‘induced’ by a combination of relaxation and magnified focus and concentration. In this ‘state’ a person’s subconscious mind becomes receptive to suggestion. A suggestion under hypnosis is a significantly more powerful and stronger suggestion as your subconscious mind is an estimated 90% of your total mind power. Hypnosis helps to put you in control of your mind. All negative habits and emotions are all in a person’s subconscious mind and hypnosis helps you to reprogram your sub-conscious mind and emotions so that you can reach every goal in your life.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis actually doesn’t feel like anything. It is a state of mind. Thus, if you close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, you’ll “feel” the same way while hypnotized. Other than that, you will probably feel relaxed since the hypnotic inductions we use at New Life Hypnosis are based around relaxation, focus, and concentration.
Do you black out, pass out or become unconscious when hypnotized?
No. You will hear everything that is said and you’ll remember everything that you experience. This allows you to learn from the insight you gain from the sessions.
Do you go to sleep when you are in Hypnosis?
Hypnosis isn’t sleep, but we do typically use the word ‘sleep’ during the induction process. It’s just a fast way of saying “you are now deeply and completely relaxed.”
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Theoretically, yes. The potential to enter hypnosis lies within the mind of every person. However, not everyone will make the choice to be hypnotized. The process is quite simple. All you have to do is follow very easy instructions and be of normal intelligence and you’ll go into deep level of hypnosis to do all of the work necessary to achieve your goals.
How do you go into hypnosis?
Two ways:
1. Automatically and naturally: just as our levels of mood change throughout the day, so do our levels of consciousness. We typically experience hypnosis in our environment through music, movies, daydreaming, and driving. For example, have you ever had the experience while driving: one moment you are at exit 3, the next moment you are at exit 20? That is an experience of naturally occurring hypnosis as you are relaxed, focused, and are concentrating.
2. A hypnotist guides you there: we have a number of different techniques to get you into a deep hypnotic state.
Is hypnosis safe?
Yes. Hypnosis occurs naturally in all human beings. You won’t believe how many times you, your friends, or family have been in a state of hypnosis and didn’t realize it. At its core, hypnosis is nothing more than relaxation, focus, and concentration.
Is Hypnosis anti-religious or evil?
No. As stated earlier, hypnosis is an everyday phenomenon. In fact, as you fall asleep each night, you’ll pass through the various states of hypnosis as you make your way to the sleep state. I don’t think anyone would consider sleep anti-religious or evil.
Can you get stuck in Hypn
osis?
No. If something were to happen to the hypnotist, you would either have a really nice nap or awaken as normal. Or, you would wake up from the hypnotic state as you are bored.
Can the hypnotist make me do something I don’t want to do?
No. You are always in control. If a hypnotist ever gave you a suggestion that you were morally or ethically opposed to you would emerge from hypnosis immediately. And if a hypnotist gives you a suggestion that just isn’t one you want, it won’t have any effect on you.
Who makes the best hypnotic subject?
People who are willing to allow themselves to be hypnotized make the best subjects. A person who has an intelligent interest in hypnosis and has an understanding of what hypnosis is will let himself or herself experience it and usually make the best, deepest and receptive hypnotic subjects. People who do not think too much about the process of hypnosis but instead just “go” with the flow of the process tend to make the best hypnotic subjects. Hypnosis depends on a person’s willingness to be hypnotized as all hypnosis can be considered “self hypnosis”.
